First of all, congratulations on the new bling on your finger!

Welcome to one of the most exciting seasons of your life. Soak it all in. Celebrate with your family. Call your friends. Stare at your ring another hundred times. Trust me, we’ve all been there.

Then, almost immediately, the questions begin.

“How did he propose?”

“Can I see the ring?”

And the biggest one of all:

“So… when’s the wedding?”

The funny thing is, most couples don’t actually know the answer to that question right away.

Before you can pick a wedding date, you have to pick a venue.

And if you’re anything like most of my couples, you’re about to spend countless hours touring venues, scrolling Instagram, searching Pinterest, and envisioning what you want your wedding day to feel like.

As an Austin and Central Texas wedding photographer, I genuinely love this stage of wedding planning because it’s the moment your wedding begins to feel real. You’re no longer dreaming about a wedding someday. You’re standing in the place where you’ll walk down the aisle, exchange vows, celebrate with family and friends, and begin your marriage.

What many couples don’t realize during this stage, however, is just how important their venue choice really is.

Of course, I’m a photographer, so naturally I’m going to tell you that photography matters. Your wedding photos are one of the few things you’ll have long after the cake has been eaten and the flowers have faded.

But there is something I wish every newly engaged couple knew before touring venues:

Your venue will be the backdrop of nearly every single photograph from your wedding day.

Think about it for a moment.

Your venue will be behind you during your bridal portraits.

It will frame your ceremony.

It will appear in your family photos.

It will be part of your first dance, your toasts, and countless candid moments throughout the day.

In many ways, your venue helps tell the story of your wedding just as much as your photographer does.

A great photographer can create beautiful images almost anywhere. But when an incredible venue and an incredible photographer come together, that’s where truly unforgettable imagery is created.

That’s why I always encourage couples to think about more than guest count, budget, and availability when venue shopping. Ask yourself how the venue makes you feel. Does it reflect your style? Can you picture yourself there? Will you still love looking at it in your wedding gallery ten, twenty, or even fifty years from now?

Over the years, I’ve created a list of venues throughout Austin and Central Texas that I absolutely love. Some are venues I’ve admired for years and would love to photograph at more often. Others have been on my photography bucket list since the beginning of my career.

Because these venues align so closely with my style and vision as a photographer, I offer special venue incentives for couples getting married at any of the locations below.

If your dream venue is on this list, definitely mention it when you inquire!

1. The Weinberg at Wixon Valley

If you’re a 2027 bride planning a wedding in Bryan-College Station, I’d be shocked if The Weinberg hasn’t already made its way onto your Instagram feed. Between the stunning chapel, elegant reception hall, and timeless architecture, it’s one of the most sought-after wedding venues in the area.

And can we take a moment for the gorgeous black-and-white tile? It adds so much character while still feeling incredibly classic. From a photographer’s perspective, it’s the kind of detail that elevates portraits and reception photos without ever distracting from the couple. It’s sophisticated, timeless, and gives the venue a look that feels both modern and refined.

2. Grand Galvez

Few venues in Texas feel as iconic as the Grand Galvez. Located on Galveston’s famous seawall, it combines coastal views, historic architecture, and luxury accommodations into one unforgettable experience.

Camp Hosea feels like the luxury venue everyone wishes they found first. Every time I see this venue, I immediately start dreaming about all the portrait possibilities. The architecture is stunning, the spaces are intentional, and the entire property feels elevated without feeling overly formal.

6. The French Farmhouse

I have to talk about the blue shutters on the front. I know it sounds like a small detail, but they are truly *chef’s kiss*. They add the perfect touch of charm and create the dreamiest backdrop for portraits.

Pair that with the stunning chapel and bright interiors, and it’s easy to see why so many Dallas-Fort Worth couples fall in love with The French Farmhouse. While finding the right photographer is incredibly important, your venue plays an equally important role in shaping your wedding day. It becomes the backdrop to your memories, the setting for your photographs, and part of the story you’ll revisit for generations. That’s why venue shopping is about so much more than logistics and guest count. It’s about finding a place that feels like you. A place where you can picture yourselves celebrating, making memories, and beginning your marriage. These ten venues continue to inspire me as a photographer, which is why I offer special venue incentives for couples getting married at any of them. If your venue is on this list, I’d love to hear more about your wedding plans.
